Coaches Meeting
Wednesday Oct 14th 7:45am
Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club Dining Room
Bring your team along and they can enjoy the special buffet breakfast being served in the dining room.
Banquet
Wednesday October 14th 6pm
Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club Dining Room
At this point, the maximum capacity for the banquet is 200 guests after a reconfiguration. That means 1 coach per individual and 1 coach per team (40 individuals & 20 teams) can be accommodated plus 20 extra guests. We did get AEL entries requesting more than 1 coach at the banquet and I now believe that most of them will be accommodated. We also had many errors in the online registrations, so at this point it is impossible to come up with final numbers. We are going to create a waiting list at registration on Tuesday for "extra" guests at the Banquet and will collect and keep track of the extra $25 fee at that time. We will do a final tally on Wednesday morning after all registrations are in and notify "extra" guests after the Coach's meeting on Wednesday if we can accommodate them or not by posting a list in the Board Room. A refund will obviously be given if we cannot accommodate the extra guest.
ATTENTION COACHES
The Draw for Round #1 has been posted in the Schedule Link. As per the OFSAA Playing Regulations, a Coach has been assigned to walk with each group to score and help with pace of play. It is the hope of the Organizing Committee that we can use that Coach to send scores to our Scoring Table via a Blackberry or Cell Phone after each hole. This would obviously depend on the number of these electronic devices we have available to us (with unlimited text message plans) and the technical expertise of the Coaches. We do have a system figured out to minimize the number of keystrokes involved and may only update every 3 holes depending on our success with it. Round 1 will be a test of this. We hope to have this in place to do live scoring for at least the 4 groups leading the Team Competition (4 teams) and the 3 groups leading the Individual Competition (12 individuals). If a Coach is interested in this duty for Day 2, please email Bill. I have also posted a ForeCaddie schedule for Coaches not assigned to a group. It is linked on the Schedule page as well. Thanks in advance for your cooperation in these matters.

An Invitation to Coaches:
It has been 5 years since I took over the SOSSA Association Convenorship. One of the initiatives I have taken on as the Convenor and have implemented as policy is to improve the Rules & Etiquette knowledge for both Players and Coaches. The way I have implemented this is to provide the Coaches with a Rules & Etiquette package that they can distribute to their players to read through and an open book quiz for the players to help with their comprehension of the material. I have posted both below. This is not an OFSAA playing regulation, but I believe as an educator, it is our responsibility to make our players more tournament ready which includes an understanding of the rules and of the way the game is supposed to be played.
